In the project, I investigate the historical, political, social and environmental problems of the eastern industrial region of Ukraine - Donbass. Each of the graphic works tells about certain aspects, problems of life in the region of the 20th-21st centuries.

Donbas is one of the most socialist and industrialized regions of the fallen Soviet Union. Now, as a result of the soviet industrialization and Russian occupation of the region, there is a great threat of environmental disaster, which may occur in the coming years due to regular flooding of idle mines. Seismic changes as a result of land subsidence and groundwater pollution can make the region uninhabitable.

In graphic works I used my photos, from my grandfather’s family photo archive, historical archives and free access. Photos and what is depicted on them belong to different
generations, depict different milestones in the development of my small homeland.

Now ecological vulnerability and problems of Donbas are a strategically dangerous factor in the war with Russia, because this machine is very successful in destroying not only the military, energy and civil infrastructure of Ukraine, but also ecology in general. In my project, I want to emphasize this and invite you to reflect on the past and the future in the context of the East, Ukraine in general.

How to overcome the consequences of the past, the tragedy of the present and create a healthier and more peaceful environment in Ukraine and its eastern regions?
These questions are difficult to answer, however, for me, one of the answers is to do everything today so that this war ends.

The project consists of graphic works (34) with a size of 70x100. Created during 2021 - 2022.
